Comelec taps Boy Abunda to explain proper use of ballots in BSKE

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has tapped TV host Boy Abunda in reminding the voters to be mindful of the ballots they will be using in the May 14 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections.

In the over two-minute video, the celebrity explained that there are three brackets of voters – those aged 15-17, those who are 18-30, and those who are aged 31 years old and above.

Abunda added that each bracket in the two different kinds of ballots would be filled out in the forthcoming elections.

For those aged 15-17, they will be getting the SK ballots, which is printed in red while those who are 31 years old and above, who are considered as regular voters will be using the Barangay ballots which is printed in black.

On the other hand, those aged 18-30, will be receiving two ballots, Barangay and SK.

Likewise, the video reminded the electorate on how many candidates they need to write down on the ballots. Voters have to write down eight names, one chairman (Barangay and SK) and seven kagawads (Barangay and SK).

He also cautioned the public not to put any markings or drawings on the ballot as it may be declared void and their efforts and votes may be put to waste.

The public service agreement ends with a friendly reminder from Abunda to the voters.

“Kaya sa darating na eleksyon, huwag lang siguraduhin na tama ang iboboto. Siguruhin din na tama ang gamit ng balota mo. Huwag nerbyusin, Kaibigan, relaks lang,” he said.

Poll body spokesperson James Jimenez said that the video is free to download and share.

“We want everyone to see this video,” he said in a statement. (PNA)
