Comelec urges qualified voters to register for 2019 polls

MANILA — Those who are looking to participate in the May 13, 2019 midterm polls only have 11 days to register, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Tuesday.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez reminded qualified voters to visit the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) in their area and register to be able to vote in the forthcoming national and local elections.

“Voter registration ends in (11) days. Being a registered voter means you’re in a position to help bring about actual change,” he said in his Twitter account, @jabjimenez.

“(11) days left to sign-up for the corps of responsible citizens who will bring change to country,” the poll body official added.

The nationwide voters’ registration, which started last July 2, will end on September 29.

Aside from applications for new registration, the OEO will also accept transfer/transfer with reactivation; reactivation; change/correction of entry; and inclusion/reinstatement of records in the list of voters.

Applications must be personally filed at the local Comelec office in the city/district/municipality, where the applicant resides.

The OEO is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays.

Satellite registrations will also be conducted during the said period, wherein field officials go to barangays, public plazas, schools, and other public places to register voters. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
