Congress irons out Bayanihan 2

Congress is now ironing out the kinks on the proposed Bayanihan 2 legislation that will help the country get through the COVID-19 pandemic.

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano said they are set to meet with the executive branch to tackle the bill. However, the Lower House is asking the latter for a higher budget for 2021 to effectively address the COVID-19 impact.

As for the upcoming SONA of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, Cayetano shared it will be a departure from the previous SONAs logistically. They might pattern the proceedings to the current house hearings where some will fully participate through video conferencing.

Cayetano clarified that there is no final word yet on the SONA but assured the message of the Chief Executive will be communicated nationwide.
