COVID-19 cases now at 3,094, 12 Chinese experts to arrive tomorrow

The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday has recorded the lowest daily number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week.

The DOH has reported 76 additional positive cases, bringing the total number of cases to 3,094 in the country. The number of fatalities also rose to 144 as the department reported eight deaths while the number of recoveries increased to 57.

Compared to the 21 percent global recovery rate, the rate in the Philippines is higher at 28 percent.

DOH USec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said the capacity building in hospitals continues to provide better care for COVID-19 patients.

The DOH urges those experiencing symptoms and have questions on COVID-19 to use the telemedicine hotline of PGH at 155200 or visit the Ask Force Facebook Page of the Lung Center of the Philippines.

The health department reiterates its call on the public to stay home and watch mass or via online services, and to pray for the end of the crisis as the Holy Week starts tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the health department said 12 Chinese medical experts will arrive in the country tomorrow to observe and recommend adequate measures to improve the country’s infection prevention and control, critical care, and laboratories.

The experts are set to visit the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), San Lazaro Hospital, and Lung Center of the Philippines. They will stay in the country until April 19.
