COVID-19 vax rollout starts in Antipolo City

The rollout of COVID-19 vaccines has formally commenced in Antipolo City on Thursday with a total allocation of 300 doses of CoronaVac.

According to Health Assistant Secretary Maria Francia Laxamana, Antipolo City is the first local government in Luzon outside the National Capital Region (NCR) to receive the vaccines. The first to receive the shot was Dr. Concepcion Lat, the city’s health officer.

As of Thursday afternoon, there are 279 individuals who want to get vaccinated and around 500 persons who want to follow suit after the 1,200 health workers in the province.

National Task Force against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Jojo Garcia were present at the ceremonial vaccination. Dizon said the vaccine confidence among frontline health workers has been increasing regardless of the product brand. – Report from Louisa Erispe
