DA launches clustering and consolidation as business enterprise

By Pearl Gumapos

Department of Agriculture (DA) Director of Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation Program Shandy Hubilla on Saturday (March 19) talked about the Bayanihan Agri Clusters (BAC) which is another name for farm clustering and consolidation.

The BAC involves the integration of government interventions to organized farmer and fisher groups.

These government interventions include the provision of loans, farm mechanization, free seeds and fertilizers, and market support.

According to the DA, BAC aims to empower its stakeholders to reduce production costs, gain more benefits from the agriculture value chain, and direct interventions to achieve economics of scale.

“Iyong Farm and Fisheries Clustering Consolidation Program ay isang istratehiya na binuo at pinapalawak under the OneDA Reform Agenda. Ang ibig sabihin nito ay iyong pagsasama-sama ng mga magsasaka at mangingisda para sa isang common economic enterprise,” Hubilla said.

“Ang layunin niya, bukod sa pagsama-sama sa isang common economic enterprise, ay mapataas iyong kita at productivity,” he added.
