DAGUPAN CITY — Some 235 police officers and medical personnel were deployed to ensure the safety and security of the delegates for the National Festival of Talents 2019 (NFOT) slated here on Tuesday (January 29).

Dagupan City chief of police Supt. Jandale Sulit said security preparation for the event has been completed since last weekend.

Sulit said an additional 135 force multipliers, barangay tanods included, will assist the police look after the estimated 3,500 delegates for the event.

“We have designated four police personnel per billeting area, with the force multipliers to join them. They will be taking turns in securing our guests,” he added.

Sulit said they will be on full alert until Feb. 1 when delegates would be returning home.

Meanwhile, the City Health Office (CHO) has recorded minor cases since Saturday.

City health officer Dr. Ophelia Rivera said there were some delegates who had allergy attacks, fever and rashes, but they were immediately attended to.

“We have alerted all health authorities to keep on the watch for contagious diseases, especially with our changing weather,” she said.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Dagupan Schools Division has sufficient medicine supply intended for this event, she added.

Two nurses from the DepEd, CHO, and barangays were fielded per billeting area.

“We will deploy four ambulances tomorrow along the (street dance) parade route, with nurses inside them to immediately respond if there were any emergency situation that may arise,” Rivera said.
