Daniel “Danny” Javier, lead vocalist of Filipino musical trio APO Hiking Society, died on Monday, Oct. 31. He was 75.

Javier’s daughter Justine Javier Long confirmed his death on Facebook, saying he died from “complications due to his prolonged illnesses.”

“In life, as in his death, our Pop never stopped fighting for what he loved, what he believed in and what he was passionate about,” Long wrote.

“He left this world with his passion and his strength of will intact and we know he would not have it any other way.”

Danny was known as one of the members of the APO Hiking Society along with Boboy Garrovillo and Jim Paredes.

He coined the term Original Pilipino Music (OPM), originally referred to the Music of the Philippines and Philippine pop songs.

His compositions include “Pumapatak ang Ulan,” “Doo bidoo,” and “Awit ng Barkada.”
