Davao City holds first simulation exercise vs. terrorism

The City of Davao has conducted its first-ever community simulation exercise (SimEx) to promote community vigilance against the threat of terrorism.

Twenty-five individuals were assigned to play the role of terrorists and were dispatched to different areas of the city. Their images, accompanied by hotline numbers of authorities, were published by the Davao City government over the social media and on television.

Task Force Davao Commander Col. Consolito Yecla said they have received a number of reports on the whereabouts of the individuals who pretended to be terrorists.

“Nakakatuwa dahil kadalasan sa mga nakapag-sumbong ay ‘yung mga empleyado ng malls, mga clerks ng mga participating establishments (We are happy that most of the informants are mall employees and clerks of participating establishments),” Yecla stated.

“Dahil sa success ng nasabing aktibidad, asahan natin na may susunod na ganitong mga aktibidad (Because of the success of the activity, we expect to conduct more of it),” PSSCC Head Angel Sumagaysay added.

The community exercise is part of strengthening the culture of security in the city.
