Davao City inoculates over 500-K of first dose COVID-19 jabs

Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser confirmed that Davao City reached the half-million mark of administered first dose jabs against COVID-19 on Friday, Aug. 27.

Schlosser was speaking at the Bida Bakunado segment of Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday when she said the increasing number of Davaoeños getting inoculated against COVID-19 is “noteworthy”.

As of Aug. 25, about 541,649 shots were administered to first-dose vaccinees, while 318,366 were fully vaccinated against the virus.

Among the vaccine recipients were persons with special needs and disabilities and members of the Badjao community.

According to the City Information Office (CIO), the vaccination drive at the People’s Park was opened by the city government to cater to the vulnerable sector on Aug. 18 and will run until Oct. 2021.

“Besides the vulnerable sector, a total of 30 members of the Badjao Community who underwent initial community level orientation conducted by the social workers before the vaccination, were catered as of Aug. 27,” the CIO reported.

Aside from getting vaccinated, Schlosser reminded the residents to comply with the minimum public health standards such as wearing face masks in public places, proper hand hygiene, and social distancing as COVID-19 infection is still very much around. – CF- bny
