Davao Norte cops help woman deliver baby boy

A 20-year-old woman gave birth to a healthy baby with the help of police officers in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

A concerned citizen sought the help of personnel of the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay-Lumabag when Jonaly Manggot went into labor in Sitio Lumabag, Barangay Palma Gil.

The cops immediately responded and went to Manggot’s house. But upon arriving, they found Manggot very close to giving birth.

Police Lt. Juvy Tinga wanted to bring Manggot to the nearest hospital, but the ‘mananabang’ (Cebuano word for a person assisting in the delivery of a baby), said the infant was already coming out.

Agreeing it was too late to bring Manggot to the hospital, the police officers helped the mananabang and Manggot deliver a healthy baby boy at the house.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Gen. Guillermo Eleazar lauded the cops for keeping their composure in an emergency situation.

“Mabuti na lamang at nakapunta agad ang ating kapulisan at natulungan ang babae sa panganganak nito,” Eleazar said.

“Saludo ako sa ipinakita ninyong serbisyo sa oras ng pangangailangan,” he added. (PNP-PIO) – jlo
