Davao sets Copa final date with Iloilo after rout of Marikina

MANILA — It will be Davao Aguilas versus Kaya Iloilo in the Copa Paulino Alcantara final.

Davao took the second seat in the championship match of the inaugural staging of the Philippines Football League’s cup tourney after a 6-1 blasting of JPV Marikina at the Rizal Memorial Stadium here on Sunday night.

Four nights after a Man of the Match-worthy performance in Biñan against Stallion Laguna, Kim Sung-Min put up an even more impressive showing to lead Davao.

Kim opened the scoring barrage with a 32nd minute goal before James Younghusband made it 2-0 by the 40th minute.

Jason De Jong scored the first goal of the second half for Davao to make it 3-0, and it was all Kim from there, drilling in goals in the 52nd and 60th minutes to secure the hat trick.

Aaron Altiche scored the consolation goal for Marikina in the 72nd minute, but Kim answered with his own strike in the 74th minute to finish his four-goal showing.

Davao will return to the said venue on Saturday to face Iloilo in the Copa final with a spot in the AFC Cup on the line. ( Ivan Stewart Saldajeno/PNA)
