DBM releases P1-B for COVID-19 healthcare workers

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released the P1.081-billion fund to the Department of Health for the compensation of healthcare workers who contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty.

Healthcare workers (HCWs)who will contract COVID-19 are also subjected to the said benefit.

HCWs and non-HCWs assigned in health facilities who contracted mild or moderate COVID-19 infection will receive P15,000 compensation, while those who had severe or critical cases will be compensated for P100,000.

Families of health personnel who succumbed to COVID-19 while in the line of duty will be given P1 million.

According to DBM, the classification of eligible, HCWs and non-HCWs will be based on the criteria set by the health department.

The funds will be charged on the regular budget of the DOH, and the compensation will be transferred to DOH-retained and corporate hospitals, DOH treatment and rehabilitation centers, and centers for health development, and other affiliated agencies and institutions.  – ag
