Following the earlier release of P3 billion for expanding digital connectivity in the education sector, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) also approved the release of P3.39 billion in performance-based bonus (PBB) to qualified officials and personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a media release on Thursday, DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman touted this initiative as cognizant of the hard work and dedication of PNP officials in maintaining security and upholding the rule of law at all times.
Secretary Pangandaman said in a statement, “Our police officers are among the pillars of our nation. They stand at the frontlines of peace and order every single day. We see their hard work and dedication, so we are making sure they receive what is rightfully due to them.”
The Budget Chief moreover underscored the importance of the PBB in alleviating financial pressures on the families of police officers—providing extra leeway to pay for tuition fees, utility bills, and other household expenses.
Under the approved release, each qualified PNP official and personnel will receive a Performance-Based Bonus equivalent to 45.5% of their monthly basic salary as of December 31, 2023.
Those in the First, Second, and Third Levels must have achieved at least a “Very Satisfactory” rating under the Civil Service Commission-approved Strategic Performance Management System or the equivalent rating required by the Career Executive Service Board.
This initiative reflects the government’s thrust towards building a bureaucracy built upon integrity and excellence, as part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to boost morale and protect the welfare of government workers, especially law enforcement personnel. (with report from Denisse Osorio | PTV News)
