Dec. 8 is non-working day in Batac City

LAOAG CITY—President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has declared December 8 as a special non-working day in Batac City for the celebration of its 440th founding anniversary.

Duterte issued the declaration through Proclamation No. 372 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on December 5 to give Batac residents “full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.”

Being a special non-working holiday, workers who report to their jobs will get 1.3 times of their daily rate while those who will not report to work will not get any pay.

Meanwhile, classes in some parts of Laoag will also be suspended on December 8 as delegates of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) prepare to leave the province.

The schools affected include the Balacad Elementary School and the Balatong Elementary school, including pre-schools along the Laoag International Airport road leading to Gabu and Paoay roads.

Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa Marcos made the announcement on the suspension of classes earlier as a matter of security protocol. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
