Philippine Women’s Gymnastics team members Daniela Dela Pisa and Breanna Labadan are set to carry on their winning streak in Rhythmic Gymnastics at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The two gymnasts were a standout in March after reaping three gold and three silver medals at the 2021 International Rhythmic Competition in Budapest, Hungary where they are also currently training. And they have nothing but gratitude for their dazzling performances despite the prevailing pandemic all over the world.
“It feels good to know that we are better than we were before the whole pandemic started, and it’s really nice to know that we could still get those gold medals when we were at home for more than five months,” gold medalist Breanna Labadan said.
“Proud po ako kasi nakakuha ako ng score na higher. Minsan ‘di po kami confident kasi natatakot kami, pero thankful pa rin po (I am proud that I got a higher score. Sometimes, we are not that confident because of fear but we are still thankful),” Daniela Dela Pisa, another gold medalist, said.
Labadan and Dela Pisa agreed that they both need strict training to maintain their excellent form until they reach the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games.
“Sa routine po namin, may plans. Like sa first half, three plus, second half, three plus, then routine. Two or three apparatus everyday at focus lang (In our routine, there are plans. Like in the first half, three plus, second half, three plus then routine. Two or three apparatus everyday and focus),” Dela Pisa explained.
“Tumaas din naman po ang confidence namin (Our confidence is higher). And we do have to keep up, to level up for the next upcoming competitions and just like what she said po, we have plans for our routines,” Labadan said.
