The Department of Education (DepEd) legal division will submit its fact-finding investigation results on Friday, Sept. 2, regarding alleged sexual harassment involving seven teachers in a school in Bacoor, Cavite.
This will be the basis for the next step of the administrative proceedings for the involved teachers.
“Here at DepEd, it’s really more of an admin [administrative] proceedings against the teacher involved,” DepEd Spokesperson Atty. Michael Poa said.
Poa, however, noted that among the challenges of the investigation is the hesitation of the alleged victims to file a complaint.
“So sana po tulungan niyo rin kami hikayatin ‘yung mga alleged victims na lumabas po at mag-file ng kanilang affidavits para mapalakas pa lalo ‘yung kaso kung meron man,” he said.
Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte already had a meeting with DepEd’s child protection unit that handles issues of abuse against students.
“There were major directions being given to them to strengthen their presence, to strengthen their programs on the school level, at the SDO [Schools Division Office] level and RO [Regional Office] level so that we can help the children,” Poa said.
The involved teachers were not given teaching loads while the investigation is ongoing. – Report from Kenneth Paciente/KC-ag
