The Department of Education (DepEd) will commemorate its 124th founding anniversary with a week-long celebration starting Monday, June 20.

Founded June 23, 1898, this year’s DepEd anniversary theme is “PAMANA: Kahusayan at Tagumpay ng Edukasyon,” which symbolizes the Department’s commitment to provide quality education to all Filipino students.

DepEd began its celebration with a flag raising ceremony followed by a thanksgiving mass.

There will also be a national parade, cultural dance, banner presentations, and legacy talks led by Education Secretary Leonor Briones this coming Thursday, June 23.

Vice president-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio is set to take over Briones’ position as DepEd secretary. – gb
