DepEd OK’s physical end-of-school-year rites in Alert Levels 1, 2

Two years on, students can now have physical end-of-school-year (EOSY) rites in schools in areas under Alert Level 1 and 2 or low-risk areas after in-person graduation and other related ceremonies were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Department of Education (DepEd).

DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said that the EOSY rites are set to be conducted nationwide from June 27 to July 2, 2022 after the end of the school year on June 24, 2022, while private schools have their own discretion to set the EOSY rites based on their school calendars.

Briones also added that limited face-to-face graduation will also be allowed for schools in Alert Level 1 and 2 areas.

“With the continuous downward trend of COVID-19 cases and easing of restrictions, we are allowing the conduct of limited face-to-face and virtual graduation, depending on the alert level status in each region,” Briones said

Nonetheless, this will only be allowed if the school will have proper coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU),schools, and community learning centers (CLCs) and if the school will strictly comply with the protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

Meanwhile, DepEd said that for schools in Alert Level 3, 4, and 5, only virtual EOSY rites will be allowed through an appropriate social media platform. – ag
