MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday night issued an advisory to Filipinos in Libya to remain vigilant following a suicide bombing that killed three and wounded seven others.

The attack perpetrated by three suicide bombers took place at around 10:30 a.m. (4:30 p.m. Manila time) at the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.

Philippine Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Mardomel Melicor said no Filipino has been reported to be among the casualties.

Melicor urged the more than 2,000 Filipinos and their dependents in the Libyan capital to restrict their movement and stay indoors.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) “strongly” condemned what it tagged as a terrorist attack in the Libyan Foreign Ministry.

It said the attack on state institutions constitutes an attack on all Libyans.

“Terrorism will not triumph over the Libyans’ decision to move forward towards building their state and renouncing violence. We will not accept any attack on a state institution, especially one committed by a terrorist group,” said Ghassan Salamé, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Libya.
