DILG appeals to Congress to include funds for contact tracers in Bayanihan 2

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has appealed to Congress to include funds for hiring additional 50,000 contact tracers in the Bayanihan 2 Law.

According to the DILG, Php 5 billion of the Php 162 billion fund under the Bayanihan 2 is needed for the additional contact tracers.

The interior department has pointed out that the number of contact tracers must reach 135,000 especially with the increasing number of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the country. 20,000 additional contact tracers are to be deployed in Luzon while 15,000 contact tracers are to be assigned in Visayas and Mindanao
