DILG, DND ready for NAP implementation

Various government agencies have been implementing additional measures to strengthen the fight against COVID-19 in the country.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), together with Department of National Defense (DND), bared that they are ready to lead the implementation of the national action plan (NAP).

DILG Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said they are just waiting for the NAP guidelines prior to its implementation.

Meanwhile, Mayor Isko Moreno laid out the assistance being delivered by local officials for Manila residents. The distribution of aid is accompanied by reminders on following guidelines, proper hygiene, and the prevention of misinformation that sows fear.

PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Bernard Banac also shared the Philippine National Police (PNP) has formed a task force against fake news.

DILG to tap NDRRMC 

Malaya said they will coordinate with the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) cluster to implement plans against COVID-19.

“So talagang kalamidad po ang approach ng ating pamahalaan (The government is taking the approach for a calamity)…We are under state of public health emergency… the President has already declared a state of calamity over the entire country so we’re now utilizing the structure of the NDRRMC,” Malaya explained.

Similar with the DILG, the NDRRMC is also waiting for the official instruction on the matter.

The government has created the NAP to reinforce the efforts of he health department in solving the COVID-19 crisis in the country.
