DILG-Napolcom Center placed on 7-day lockdown but public service to continue

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has placed the DILG-Napolcom Center building along EDSA corner Quezon Avenue in Quezon City under lockdown for 7 days starting today as preventive measure following the report that one of its senior officials tested positive for COVID-19.

DILG Undersecretary and Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said that this will not affect the delivery of public service since all Central Office officials and staff will just shift to Work from Home (WFH) mode and the Department will still receive and release documents at the ground floor lobby of the building.

“We understand that DILG is a frontline agency in this pandemic so we cannot stop operations so our officials will still continue to work at our extension or other offices outside of the DILG-Napolcom Center or from their homes while all our attached agencies are fully operational, especially the PNP, BJMP, and BFP,” he said.

He said that the operations of Department organization will remain unhampered down to the field units.

“The Department remains steadfast in our commitment of capacitating and nurturing local government units, and supervising public order and safety institutions even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

Malaya said that while the building is on lockdown, they will undertake the disinfection of the entire building and contact tracing of all personnel will also be done.

He likewise said that the “No Visitor Policy” will be imposed while DILG personnel are strictly prohibited from entering or exiting the building and in extreme cases where key officials and executives really need to enter the office premises, they too shall not interact with other offices.

With DILG CO personnel reporting on WFH arrangement during this period, he advised the public to transact official businesses during office hours via calls, emails, or through social media.

The lockdown will be lifted on July 13 and regular office hours will resume on that date.
