DILG: Over 50-K individuals violate facemask protocol

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reported on Monday (June 7) that the number of individuals who violate the facemask protocol increased.

In President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Talk to the People, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said that based on the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s data, 50,021 individuals were recorded to violate the facemask protocol, 613 individuals violated the mass gathering protocol, and 13,882 were said to disobey the physical distancing measure from May 31 to June 6.

“Dito naman po sa mga violations ng health protocols, ayon po sa nakalap na datos ng ating Philippine National Police, tumaas ang mga nahuhuling hindi nagsusuot ng face mask, 50,021, habang bumaba naman ang kaso ng mass gatherings, 613, at kawalan ng physical distancing sa bansa, 13,882. Mahigit 1,700 po ang nakasuhan natin sa korte,” Año said.

The DILG Chief also reported that several super spreader events have occurred in NCR, Central Luzon, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas from May to June.

“Agad naman natin itong inaksyunan at inimbestigahan at makikita natin sa matrix ang datos o status ng mga kasong isinampa laban sa mga opisyal ng barangay na responsable sa magkakahiwalay na insidente ng paglabag sa public health and safety protocols,” he assured.

Sec. Año said that DILG has charged six barangay officials regarding the super spreader events including the Gubat sa Ciudad incident in Barangay 171, Caloocan City; recreational resort and pool operations in San Jose, Navotas City; boxing match in Tondo, Manila, Barangay 181 and 182, Gagalangin, Tondo; Bakas river incident in Barangay Matictic, Norzagaray, Bulacan; Barangay Balabag, Boracay Island; Barangay Sambiray, Malay, incident; and the incident in Club Holic Bar and Restaurant in Cebu City.
