DILG: Walk-in policy in vax sites is a ‘welcome strategy’

By NG Seruela

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said that walk-ins in vaccination sites are fine as long as it will help the national government in the vaccination program without violating the health protocols.

In today’s (June 23) Laging Handa public briefing, following Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso’s order to allow walk-ins in the city’s vaccination sites, DILG Acting Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Odilon Pasaraba said that it is a “welcome strategy.”

“Any strategy na makakatulong sa national government agency without offending our established health protocols and other essential protocols sa vaccination is a welcome strategy.”

He explained that Interior Secretary Eduardo Año “encourages” local chief executives to develop their own strategies to ramp up and hasten the vaccination.

“Alam naman natin na ito iyong hinihintay ng taumbayan, napakahalaga nito at napaka-essential, at positibo tayo maging si Presidente na ito iyong paraan, susi na maging kampante at maging safe ang ating mga kababayan,” he said.

Meanwhile, ASec. Pasaraba reiterated that the wearing of face shields indoors or outdoors remains mandatory. He also urged the local government units (LGUs) and law enforcement agencies to ensure the proper wearing of face shields of the public.

“We should not lower our guards. Ginamit na natin, we used this for more than a year at sana mas lalo nating seryosohin ang paggamit nito dahil alam naman natin na per health authorities, ang wearing of face shield is a control measure, preventive measure,” Pasaraba said. – rir
