Displaced workers given a boost as Bong Go provides aid in Bacoor City

Continuing his efforts to provide assistance to more Filipinos struggling due to the pandemic, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go distributed aid to displaced workers in Bacoor City, Cavite on Tuesday, February 8.

Go’s team conducted the relief activity at Barangay Molino 1 Covered Court for a total of 126 beneficiaries. They handed out meals and masks to each displaced worker and provided select individuals new pairs of shoes, bicycles, and computer tablets.

In compliance with the safety and health protocols, the senator’s staff grouped the beneficiaries into smaller batches to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, a team from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provided the displaced workers with the opportunity to start their own business through its Sustainable Livelihood Program.

“Salamat po sa DSWD sa programang SLP-LAG [Sustainable Livelihood Program-Livelihood Assistance Grant]. Bibigyan ho kayo ng puhunan, tuturuan ho kayong magnegosyo, tuturuan ho kayong palaguin ang inyong negosyo,” Go remarked in his video message.

“Mas masarap po ang pakiramdam ‘pag pinaghirapan at pinagpawisan n’yo po ang inyong pagnenegosyo. At dalahin n’yo po ang inyong kita sa inyong mga pamilya,” he added.

Vaccination, medical aid

The senator, who is an adopted son of Calabarzon, also took the opportunity to urge all those eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19, saying, “Kung mahal n’yo po ang inyong mga anak, kung mahal n’yo po ang inyong mga pamilya, magpabakuna na po kayo.”

“‘Yon po ang tanging susi sa ngayon para makabalik po tayo sa ating normal na pamumuhay. Ito po ang gusto nating makamtan kaya patuloy po ang ating pagbabakuna,” he continued.

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go offered additional assistance to those with medical concerns. He also urged them to visit the Malasakit Center located at Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital in Bacoor City or General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital in Trece Martires City.

Republic Act No. 11463, otherwise known as the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, was primarily authored and sponsored by Go. It mandates the establishment of said centers in every Department of Health-run hospital nationwide and in the Philippine General Hospital in Manila City.

To promote economic development and improve public service delivery in Bacoor City, Go has also supported the acquisition of an ambulance unit and the construction of several roads and multipurpose buildings in his capacity as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance.

He was also instrumental in various road improvements in the cities of Cavite, Dasmariñas, General Trias, Imus and Tagaytay; rehabilitation of covered courts in various barangays in General Trias City; acquisition of ambulance units for the local governments of Indang and Trece Martires City; rehabilitation and improvement of the municipal fire station in Noveleta; and the improvement of a sports facility in Cavite State University in Indang.

Previously, Go’s outreach team had also provided assistance to fire victims in Bacoor City. (Office of SBG)
