DMW leads successful repatriation of nearly 200 Filipino human trafficking victims from Cambodia

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) gave 190 Filipino human trafficking victims from Cambodia a warm welcome as they arrived aboard Philippine Airlines Flight 2P9222 at NAIA Terminal 1 on Thursday.

These repatriates are escorted by Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, who personally checked on their welfare upon arrival.

This batch brings the total number of migrant workers rescued from the grasp of human traffickers in Phnom Penh to 877.

In collaboration with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the distressed OFWs will receive immediate financial and welfare assistance, as well as psychosocial support and legal aid.

Among the agencies involved in this endeavor were the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Health (DOH), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI),  Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
