LEGAZPI CITY — The Department of Energy (DOE) conducted its “E-Power Mo” campaign forum in Albay to inform consumers about employing technology to save energy under the current administration’s energy policy.

About 200 senior citizens, government employees, academe, youth sector and market vendors gathered on Tuesday at the Casablanca Hotel’s Function Hall in this city for the forum in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

“The E-Power Mo” multi-sectoral forum aims to empower individual consumers by giving them a sense of ownership and responsibility when it comes to their supply needs,” said Bennie Recebido, PIA regional officer in-charge said in an interview.

“Participants are expected to serve as campaign partners in influencing other energy consumers to be more informed and involved in managing and handling their energy supplies,” Recebido added.

“E-Power Mo” also aims to raise awareness on energy roadmap and policies designed to empower the consumers.

DOE discussed the energy situation in the country in general, and in Albay in particular.

Meanwhile, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) tackled its role in the industry, as well as the projects it implemented in Luzon and their impact in Albay while the Albay Power and Energy Corp. (APEC) presented the Magna Carta for residential electricity consumers, with discussions on getting to know power bills and electricity consumption.

DOE also aims to consolidate public support to the DOE’s goal of expanding energy supply options for energy consumers and to increase the number of energy consumers, who will shift to different sources of energy. (Connie Calipay/PNA)
