DOH 7 gets more vaccines, urges vaccinees to get 2nd dose

Around 54,600 Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses from the one million doses received by the Philippines last week were delivered today (June 8) in Cebu.

According to Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, Department of Health (DOH) Region 7 spokesperson, the newly shipped vaccines will cover both first and second doses.

“As to the distribution, saang localities natin siya idi-distribute, that will be studied by our team right now,” Loreche said.

The region is set to begin inoculating A4 priority group or essential workers, and is also expecting vaccine arrival in Cebu from COVAX facility. The exact date of arrival has not yet been announced.

Meanwhile, DOH-7 urged vaccine recipients to complete their vaccination amid missed schedules due to misinformation.

“The effectiveness of the vaccine when you complete only one dose is less as compared to when you have the full doses,” Loreche said. – Report from John Aroa/PTV Cebu-AG-rir
