The Department of Health (DOH) has been consistent in implementing Bayanihan I and II amid the pandemic, DOH Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega said during the Talk To The People on Saturday, Aug. 21.

“The Department of Health has been very steadfast and very consistent in trying to implement Bayanihan I and II provisions specifically for this pandemic. For the Bayanihan II extension, from January to June, we were already able to give 379,000 healthcare workers the special risk benefits,” Vega said.

Meanwhile, for the compensation of the death and sickness benefits under Bayanihan II, 23,000 healthcare workers have been provided for.

P114 million have been given to said healthcare workers.

“All in all, we have been trying to really make sure that the services of the Department of Health will really be felt and will be felt by the people in terms of the frontline workers and, of course, in this pandemic,” Vega said.

Vega also said that regarding the Commission on Audit (COA), the department takes their recommendations seriously.

“We take this as a way of making sure na we can improve our services more because this will actually be better for our policy and reforms and fund management,” Vega said.

“And we all promise to COA that we will commit to them. In 60 days, we will give them the necessary documents and the compliance that they need in terms of the implementation,” Vega added. – bny
