DOH assures public on Sinovac’s efficacy vs. COVID-19

The Department of Health (DOH) asserted that the Sinovac vaccine is effective against COVID-19.

The department assured the public regarding the vaccine’s efficacy following the reports of fully vaccinated healthcare workers in Thailand who got infected by COVID-19.

In a DZBB radio interview on Monday (July 12), Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said based on the study made by Chile, the Sinovac vaccine has a record of 90% efficacy in preventing ICU admission, is 87.5% effective against hospitalization, and 86% effective against COVID-19-related deaths.

In relation to this, the Sinovac vaccine is 100% effective against hospitalization and severe infection in a Brazil study.
