The Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Information and Technology (DICT) on April 1 have resolved the system issue with the COVIDKaya which resulted in the 15,310 new COVID-19 cases reported today, April 2.
The DOH clarified that 3,709 of these newly reported cases were submitted by laboratories to the COVID Document Repository System (CDRS) last March 30 but were rejected due to the high number of records being uploaded in the system—over the past week, the average number of records being uploaded into the system was 9,000 per day. This rejection, in turn, resulted in a lower number of reported additional cases for March 31 (6,128 cases).
The said system issue has since been resolved by the DICT, and the 3,709 case records were successfully uploaded into COVIDKaya. Following this incident, the DOH and the DICT will continuously work to ensure that such system issues are avoided and that the COVID-19 data being reported are as accurate as possible.
Moreover, with higher additional cases being reported, the DOH assures that the effects of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) imposed over the greater Metro Manila area will reflect in the daily case count over the next few weeks. While cases are expected to go down, the DOH continues to call on the public to remain vigilant, minimize non-essential travel, and consistently observe minimum public health standards (MPHS) to curb the transmission of COVID-19.
