BADOC, Ilocos Norte — The Department of Health (DOH) and some barangay health workers (BHWs) in the province have set up health stations in various polling centers to ensure the well-being of voters on Election Day.

At the Badoc South Central School SPED Center here, at least three DOH personnel were on standby on a long table with Monobloc chairs at the covered court, where voters patiently waited for their turn to vote.

While waiting, Elvie Claire Salviejo of Barangay Ar-arusip, thought of having her blood pressure checked, saying, “It feels good to have health personnel who are ready to assist voters because of the hot temperature.”

Nancy Viloria, a midwife of Barangay Badio, Pinili town, said they brought along their blood pressure monitor so they could check the blood pressure of voters who had been waiting for hours in long lines.

Of the more than 900 voters at the Badio Elementary School in Pinili town, at least 25 had their blood pressures checked as of Monday morning.

Some of them with high blood pressure were told to relax and take some rest.

At 6 a.m., members of the electoral board were already at their assigned precincts, ready to assist voters.

For the convenience of voters, election volunteers arranged a number of Monobloc chairs encircled around the covered court so each voter could sit while waiting for his/her turn to vote.

In a corner, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) put a signage saying a disciplined voter follows the line.

The Comelec has also assigned a separate priority lane in the east wing of the covered court for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women.
