IMUS CITY, Cavite – The Department of Health (DOH) Calabarzon regional office will start conducting physical examination (PE) on profiled Dengvaxia vaccine recipients at the Sta. Rosa Community Hospital on Friday (Aug 17).

DOH-4A Regional Director Dr. Eduardo C. Janairo will personally lead the diagnostic activities for some 250 profiled Dengvaxia vaccinees, said DOH-4A Community Affairs and Media Relations Officer Glen Ramos on Monday.

The series of medical services serve as a follow-up to the ongoing profiling activity for those vaccinated with Dengvaxia in the Calabarzon provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon, which started last July 31.

The profiling activity aims to validate vaccine recipients, and improve the DOH’s ability to efficiently manage them and prevent potential hazards of post vaccination on their health.

The health profile and comprehensive summary of their medical or health history, which includes medical conditions, medications, and emergency contact information, would help health workers clearly organize critical information on every Dengvaxia vaccinee, Janairo explained.

After locating and establishing a post-vaccination baseline database that aids in the monitoring of the vaccine recipients’ health status, it would be combined with their PE results for the DOH to generate an evidence-based intervention needed for their evaluation, Janairo added.

The regional health office, which is regularly and closely monitoring Dengvaxia recipients, and providing the necessary medical support every time a need arises, has embarked on this activity to help address confusion and avoid panic among those vaccinated and their families. (Gladys Pino/PNA)
