DOJ requests PDLs to be included in National Vaccination Day

The Department of Justice (DOJ) will request for persons deprived of liberty (PDL) to be included in the national vaccination drive to be held on Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.

“The DOJ will request the National Task Force Against COVID-19 headed by Sec. Galvez to include all PDLs in our prison facilities throughout the country in the massive vaccination drive scheduled on Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, 2021,” DOJ Sec. Menardo Guevarra said.

“I understand that we have millions of doses available for this big event, so this is the opportune time to consider the health of our PDLs who are at risk of infection due to prison overcrowding,” he said.

Guevarra said there are millions of doses of COVID-19 for such activity that is why it is an opportunity for PDLs to be vaccinated, especially since they are exposed to the risk of COVID-19 due to overcrowding in prisons.
