DOJ Sec. Guevarra supports appeal to disclose names of COVID-19 patients

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra supports the appeal to publicize the names of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive patients, persons under investigation (PUIs) or persons under monitoring (PUMs).

Sec. Guevarra explains that if the names are made known, there is no need for the Department of Health (DOH) to perform contact tracing since individuals who have come in contact with them will take the initiative to quarantine themselves.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines has initially asked for the disclosure of the identities of patients positive with COVID-19, PUIs, or PUMs to simplify contact tracing. – PTV News
