DOLE chief tests positive for COVID-19

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement issued by the department on Tuesday (Aug. 17), it bared that the source of the infection is not yet identified since the DOLE chief attended a number of meetings with government officials as well as meeting with displaced formal and informal workers.

His RT-PCR swab test was conducted on Saturday (Aug. 14).

“Prior to contracting the virus, the secretary has been receiving officials and guests at his office and traveled to various parts of the country distributing assistance to displaced and disadvantaged formal and informal sector workers affected by the pandemic,” it added.

In the recent report, Bello was said to be asymptomatic and is currently undergoing self-quarantine at his hometown in Ilagan City, Isabela.
