DOLE reviews wage subsidy for private sector employees

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is reviewing the request for wage subsidy of labor groups for workers in the private sector.

This was confirmed by DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III amidst the effect of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on workers and the Philippine economy. The wage subsidy is better than an increase in salary which the employers might not be capable of and can lead to closing down of their businesses.

Sec. Bello disclosed that the possibility of a wage subsidy will be discussed with other related government agencies. – PTV News
