DOST approves 2 studies on COVID-19 vaccines mix-and-match

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) on May 23 approved the studies on the efficacy of mixing-and-matching COVID-19 vaccines.

DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Peña said that the DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) approved the separate studies on the matter that will be conducted by the Philippine Society for Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (PSAAI) and the University of the Philippines Manila (UPM).

The studies will be conducted to assess the “safety and immunogenicity” of mixing-and-matching COVID-19 vaccines.

A ₱133 million funding will be allocated for PSAAI’s study, while ₱114.9 million will be allotted for UPM’s study of immuno-surveillance.
