DOST assures preparation for WHO solidarity vaccine trials in PH

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) on Tuesday (Sept. 7) assured its continuous preparation for the World Health Organization (WHO) solidarity vaccine trials to be conducted in the Philippines.

DOST Undersecretary Rowena Guevara said, in today’s Laging Handa public briefing, among the preparations for the trials are pilot hospital sites, trial teams, and supplies needed for the study.

She said that they are only waiting for the formal announcement from WHO for the global and local launching of the trials.

According to Guevara, the trial aims to know the efficacy of the vaccines against COVID-19 variants of concern (VOC) present in the country. She bared that individuals aged 16 and above are part of the trials’ target population.
