MANILA — The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Tuesday denied links to the WOW Pilipinas Movement, a new tourism-centered party-list group vying for a seat at the House of Representatives.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the agency stressed its “apolitical and nonpartisan” nature.

“This is to inform the public that the Department of Tourism is not in any way related or affiliated with WOW Pilipinas Party-list,” it said.

From 2002 to 2010, the agency used WOW Philippines, conceptualized by then DOT Secretary Dick Gordon, as the country’s official campaign slogan.

The WOW Pilipinas Movement party-list is among the 185 groups that has filed its certificate of nomination and acceptance before the Commission on Elections.

The controversial organization on Sunday also drew attention after its logo appeared as an advertisement on the ring mat of Senator Manny Pacquiao’s match with Adrien Broner.
