The Department of Tourism (DOT) took down on Sunday, July 2, the “Love the Philippines” promotional video on its official social media channels after it received backlash from netizens.

The video was taken down amid allegations of using unoriginal stock footage taken from other countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Switzerland, and United Arab Emirates.

In a Facebook post, blogger Sass Sasot pointed out on Saturday that at least six clips featured in the “Love the Philippines” promotional video are not located in the country and were sourced from stock video footage site Storyblocks.

The Department of Tourism (DOT), meanwhile, assured that it already ordered an “exhaustive investigation” on the promotional video.

The DOT said the campaign, including the entire study, coming up with a logo, and other components, cost P49 million.
