DOTr assesses commute situation per day

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is thoroughly assessing the situation per day and the government is doing its best to help everyone.

“The Department of Transportation opened 8 city bus routes last week and, upon the instruction of the President, will open 3 more on Monday, June 8, and more rationalized routes in the next few days… The threat of COVID-19 still exists and is real. At this juncture, we still cannot let all modes of transportation be on the streets. This will defeat the purpose of quarantine.”

According to Secretary Roque, only selected public vehicles are allowed due to the threat brought by the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) lest there is no sense in implementing the quarantine.

Meanwhile, Sec. Roque pointed out that the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act is effective until June 25. Report from Mela Lesmoras
