DOTr implements IATF-approved reduced physical distancing

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has been implementing the .75 meter physical distancing as approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) while awaiting a new decision on the matter.

The National Center for Commuter Safety and Protection supports this move for additional ridership under the condition of placing a footbath and alcohol dispenser inside the public vehicle.

The group has added that the passengers are safer inside vehicles rather than lining up.

Meanwhile, several medical experts has laid out the “7 Commandments” of riding in public transportation such as the wearing of facemasks, face shields, not talking and eating while on the ride.

The experts believe that the additional capacity in public transportation and the recovery of the economy can be permitted without compromising health through the “7 Commandments.”
