DOTr: MRT-3 free rides extended until May 30

By Myris Lee

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that it will extend the Metro Rail Transit-Line 3 (MRT-3) free rides until May 30, 2022 that was supposed to end on April 30.

The DOTr said in its announcement that the extension will cover its whole operating hours of 4:40 a.m. to 10:10 p.m.

The free ride implementation that began March 28 meant to celebrate the completion of the MRT-3 restoration, but the rail line management decided to extend the ride service to aid commuters affected by the continuous fuel hike and inflation.

The DOTr said it wants commuters to experience the quality and service of the newly rehabilitated MRT-3 line for free.

As of April 26, a total of 7,227,434 passengers availed of the MRT-3 free ride program. – ag
