The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has no plans to limit the number of public utility vehicles (PUVs) amidst the possibility of a surge in Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases after the holiday season.
DOTr Road Consultant Assistant Secretary Alberto Suansing stated that health safety protocols are being strictly implemented in PUVs especially the implementation of the “7 commandments.”
In relation to this, he said that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is currently evaluating the public jeepneys that can conduct trips depending on the Metro Manila traffic in the next few weeks.
The resumption of operations of the provincial buses going to La Union and other provinces from Metro Manila is being considered. Baguio City has initially prepared the inter-regional bus operation from NCR, Bataan, San Fernando City; Clark, Pampanga, and Bontoc, Mountain Province.
