The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) formally inaugurated on Wednesday, April 27,  the South and East Metro Manila Bike Lane Network.

DOTr Road Transport and Infrastructure Undersecretary Mark Steven Pastor said at the Alabang West Parade event that the bike lane network expansion added 50 kilometers of protected bike lanes in the south and 18 kilometers in the east lane.

In total, 563.57 kilometers of bike lanes have been established in the country’s major cities, specifically in Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, and the National Capital Region under the Duterte administration.

The DOTr and DPWH assured that the quality of materials used in the bike lanes is similar to the Metro Cebu and Metro Davao bike lane network. The funds used for the project were sourced from the 2021 General Appropriations Act.  – ag
