CARIGARA, Leyte — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 2nd district engineering office has rolled-out the new Document Tracking System (DoTS) for civil works.

DoTS is an electronic dynamic routing slip developed to monitor the status and track down slow-moving documents. It can also pinpoint those responsible for the delay in the processing.

The department aims to fast track the completion of projects and boost transparency with its operations in the processing of documents in the procurement and implementation of local and foreign-assisted civil works projects.

“As of this week, we have entered and completed a total of 141 documents since we started its process in November 2018,” said Leonel Molleda, in charge of the district’s DoTS center in an interview Thursday.

The contractors and other stakeholders of the office could now access and track their documents even without personal appearance.

The system enables documents to be logged into the system. It stores dates received, sent and returned, and allows viewing of all incoming, ongoing and outgoing documents. It also assigns routes and target dates for the documents.

The initiative is in line with Department Order 148 or the “Implementation of the Document Tracking System (DoTS) for Civil Works Projects”.

For 2019, the DPWH in central Leyte is tasked to implement 93 infrastructure projects with a total funding of PHP1.56 billion.

On top of regular projects, the agency also builds classrooms, farm-to-market roads, rainwater collections system, and roads leading to conflict-stricken areas.
