DSWD Sec. Bautista, Chief Implementer Sec. Galvez to lead aid distribution

President Rodrigo Duterte has assigned the distribution of relief goods and cash aid to Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rolando Bautista and national policy against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) chief implementer, Secretary Carlito Galvez.

The President asks for the public’s patience and understanding on the delay of the aid distribution as he assures that everyone in the informal sector will have his/her share.

He also warns leftist groups against meddling with government affairs, “huwag ninyong gamitin ang pwersa. I am addressing the left na ‘yung pambabastos ninyo ‘yung slamming about the distribution. Remember kayong mga left: You are not the government. Huwag ninyo… Huwag ninyong subukan ang Pilipino. Do not try to test it. (Do not use force. I am addressing the leftist group’s disrespect and slamming about the distribution. Remember, you, leftists: You are not the government. Don’t provoke Filipinos.)”

“Alam mo (You know) we are ready for you. Gulo o barilan o patayan (Discord or gunfight or killing), I will not hesitate [to have] my soldiers shoot you. I will not hesitate to order the police to arrest and detain you,” the Chief Executive adds.

Amid reports of discrimination and harassment, President Duterte has reiterated his full support to the frontliners, and has ordered the police to ensure their safety. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
