Duterte leads Army’s 121st founding anniversary Tuesday

MANILA — President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will be the guest of honor and speaker during the Philippine Army’s (PA) 121st founding anniversary ceremonies on Tuesday afternoon.

This was confirmed by Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Louie Villanueva in a message Monday.

The event will take place at the PA Grandstand, Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Villanueva said the PA’s 121st founding anniversary will take place two days earlier due to the availability of the Commander-in-Chief.

The PA was founded on March 22, 1897 shortly after the Tejeros Convention in San Francisco de Malabon (now Gen. Trias) in Cavite.

The convention also resulted in the establishment of the revolutionary government headed by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo.

One of the highlights of this year’s PA anniversary is the quashing of the Marawi rebellion, Villanueva added.

“Part of the awardees are those who served in Marawi City. There are also others who will be recognized in other aspect of their contribution to the Army’s mission,” he added. (PNA)
